I watched this video today, and was really inspired that there are responsible and smart people out there who care for the welfare of animals. Gene Taylor, the safety and risk manager for the National Aquarium, gives a great interview. He has some great things to say about not being a drain on the city during an emergency. It was great! I recommend watching the video instead of reading the article.

September Cannery Information

Ok ladies who are in the southern hills ward. It is important to get some things canned this month. Order a can, yes, one can, and you will officially be started on your way to being prepared. For September we are going to can
Dry Milk
Spaghetti
Carrots
White Beans

These things are not just to bring home and store. Open them up, experiment, it isn't a sacred object, that must be prized. I needed some milk to put in hamburger helper the other day, and I opened the fridge to find out the last of the milk was GONE! I couldn't run to the store to get any (crying baby, crying 3 year old) Then I remembered, OH YEAH, I have that dry milk I canned. So I dug it out from under the stairs, mixed it up, and used it to save dinner. Also, I went ahead and filled the babies sippy cup with some, and he drank it just fine. The three year old thought it was cool that I was using the hand mixer (read) I'm to lazy to use the whisk. So order this month, you never know when you need some carrots to put in chicken noodle soup, or spaghetti for a quick dinner. Here is the order form annnd here is the instruction sheet. my brother

I am so proud of my brother the policeman, he works really hard. I just had to post this, it is a terrible story, but see the tall officer with the sunglasses in the middle of the pic? That is my brother! He made the newspaper, practically famous! :)How can this tie into preparedness?
I'll interview this officer on the subjects of self-defense & personal safety, maybe even a question or two about home protection!
