It is all in a name

I am so sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I am feeling strange these days. I had to comment however on the virus H1N1 that is spreading through Mexico, and making headlines. More commonly known as the swine flu, it has given the misconception that it is spread by pigs. In Egypt, they have lost their minds over this and ordered the slaughter of all pigs in the country. (FYI swine flu is a misnomer, it just means that it is a combo virus of swine, bird and human virus strain)
These poor animals. It somehow reminds me of the retarded emails that people send each other about the "mysterious" person approaching you in the parking lot to smell a perfume, and you wake-up with your purse or car gone. These are urban legends people. One minute searching on google, and you can find this out, instead of forwarding crap emails to all of your loved ones. Rumors and panic are not a good combination for society. If this gets worse, people are going to freak, and start seeing swine flu in the most innocent person. We are already a prejudice, ignorant people, and I can imagine the day someone looks at my dad and see's a "dirty mexican" carrying swine flu. I hope it doesn't go this far.
Take time to educate yourself on H1N1. I am in no way trivializing the outbreak, and as a matter of fact, I went to sam's club and stocked up on water, diapers, wipes, and formula (I have my 3 month food storage) so we could just stay at home for a little while. Brock is still going to preschool, but if this hits Nevada, I may pull him for a couple of weeks. We arent going to the movies, or any large events for awhile, and I may do some online grocery shopping and banking.
The key word right now it prudence. What measures are you taking to prevent sickness in your home? Can our economy withstand this? I'd love to hear some opinions.
